CZ DUTY 4.0 F MS

From Miami and Fort Lauderdale up through West Palm Beach, and across to Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota, the 9mm service pistol is the gun that sells all year, and CZ just released a new one. The DUTY 4.0 is striker-fired, chambered in 9x19, and built around a serialized internal chassis so the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. It ships with a direct-mount optics-ready slide, fixed sights and a 4-inch barrel that is not threaded.

Orlando and Kissimmee buyers tend to ask for the compact first: the DUTY 4.0 C runs 15+1 standard or 17+1 with the extended base plate at 770 g and 135 mm tall. The full-size DUTY 4.0 F holds 17+1 (19+1 extended), weighs 780 g and stands 143 mm. Both are sold with or without a manual thumb safety, the MS models. The trigger is CZ's refined SFDA: 5.6±0.9 lbs, 9±1 mm travel, 4 mm reset. Condo home defense, everyday carry, range Sundays: one pistol, $729 MSRP.

The F is the full-size frame: 5.6 in (143 mm) tall, 27.7 oz (780 g) unloaded, 17+1 rounds of 9mm on board and 19+1 with the longer base plate. The longer grip fills a big hand and settles the gun between shots.

What is new under the slide is the serialized modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the frame module is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield reflex sights.

MS stands for manual safety. This model adds a thumb lever to the passive safeties every DUTY has: the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the trigger bar safety. Agencies and owners who want a positive on/off control choose this version; the trigger itself is unchanged.

Who is it for: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

Florida sells firearms to buyers 21 and older, with a 3-day wait on most purchases. You order here, name the Florida dealer you want, and the DUTY 4.0 ships to that FFL. Your dealer runs the background check and the waiting period, then you pick it up. Ammo and gear ship straight to your door. Price and stock get a live check when you order, ahead of payment.

Questions buyers ask: Is there a waiting period on the DUTY 4.0 in Florida? Florida applies a 3-day wait on most firearm purchases, and buyers must be 21 or older. Your dealer handles the timing at pickup. C or F for Florida carry? The C is the compact at 135 mm tall and 770 g; the F is 143 mm and 780 g with two more rounds. In light summer clothes most carriers go with the C. Is the CZ DUTY 4.0 F MS the same gun as the F? Yes, apart from the manual thumb safety. Chassis, trigger, slide and the 17+1 capacity are identical.
