From Miami and Fort Lauderdale up through West Palm Beach, and across to Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota, the 9mm service pistol is the gun that sells all year, and CZ just released a new one. The DUTY 4.0 is striker-fired, chambered in 9x19, and built around a serialized internal chassis so the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is modular. It ships with a direct-mount optics-ready slide, fixed sights and a 4-inch barrel that is not threaded.

Orlando and Kissimmee buyers tend to ask for the compact first: the DUTY 4.0 C runs 15+1 standard or 17+1 with the extended base plate at 770 g and 135 mm tall. The full-size DUTY 4.0 F holds 17+1 (19+1 extended), weighs 780 g and stands 143 mm. Both are sold with or without a manual thumb safety, the MS models. The trigger is CZ's refined SFDA: 5.6±0.9 lbs, 9±1 mm travel, 4 mm reset. Condo home defense, everyday carry, range Sundays: one pistol, $729 MSRP.

Pick the C when the gun has to disappear under a cover garment. It gives up two rounds to the full-size model (15+1 against 17+1) and about 8 mm of grip height, and in return it is 5.3 in (135 mm) tall and 27.2 oz (770 g) light.

A manual safety is the one thing that separates this model from its sibling. It sits beside the three passive safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety, and does not change the trigger pull.

Where the P-10 had a serialized polymer frame, the DUTY 4.0 moves the serial number to an internal modular chassis. That is the headline. The rest follows the modern service-pistol formula done carefully: a striker SFDA trigger at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) (0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel), a 7.4 in (188 mm) long slide with direct-mount optics cuts, fixed sights and a 4-inch barrel without a thread.

Best fit: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; owners coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

Florida sells firearms to buyers 21 and older, with a 3-day wait on most purchases. You order here, name the Florida dealer you want, and the DUTY 4.0 ships to that FFL. Your dealer runs the background check and the waiting period, then you pick it up. Ammo and gear ship straight to your door. Price and stock get a live check when you order, ahead of payment.

Questions buyers ask: Is there a waiting period on the DUTY 4.0 in Florida? Florida applies a 3-day wait on most firearm purchases, and buyers must be 21 or older. Your dealer handles the timing at pickup. C or F for Florida carry? The C is the compact at 135 mm tall and 770 g; the F is 143 mm and 780 g with two more rounds. In light summer clothes most carriers go with the C. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
